Hi.. I'm new to the forum... just in high school and I thought this was a cool site...
Anyhow, I'm working on the 3rd Movement but uh.. playing the left hand up to speed seems impossible :X

Is there any special way I can improve it or is it all just sheer practise?

I feel like there's a my left hand is very limited and it won't let me play the piece at the speed I want to frown

Btw, I did finish Grade 10 Piano Repertoire with the RCM... is this beyond my level?

What part? The left hand is mostly tremolos or alberti bass, and there aren't any complex figurations really.

BTW, this piece should be a bit above your level....it's ARCT so it's the level above grade 10.

Um... I'm not sure how to describe the part but uh.. lol.
It's just all broken chords, but my left thumb comes out really loud when it's not supposed to, as I heard it being almost silent in recordings of it.

Is there a way to make the thumb play softer? Or is it all practise?

Yeah, you'll have to balance out your hand; try to place the emphasis on the pinky for the bass note, and in general, the left should be very soft since the dynamics are usually piano or pianissimo.

Try practising everything without pedal first, it's technically possible to play the whole thing (except for a certain section near the end) with no pedal and make it still sound like the normal thing.

Aha, Kuanpiano, I believe you are thinking about the 1st movement, whereas I'm attempting to play the 3rd movement ^^. But thanks for that tip as well.

I mean the last movement; those comments do apply to the right hand of the first movement, but the last movement has those challenges just much much faster and still at a pp dynamic in the left.
