I'm trying to find out if I can sell or how or who I can sell this piano? I am moving out of the country and can't move this with me.

I have a Hallet & Cumston Upright Black Piano. I have dated back to pre 1879. It's not in great shape, it was a hand-me-down to me.

It has some rope marks from moving it, pretty heavy. It plays, although some keys stick. It is very ornate and a beautiful piece waiting for some TLC. Unfortunately, I'm not the one that can do it.

Hoping to re-home this beautiful piece very soon for a reasonable price.

Let me know.

You should post your question in the Piano Forum, rather than here in the Pianist Corner.

That said, I would think that you would be hard-pressed to find anyone interested in a piano of that vintage, furniture case notwithstanding. Hallet & Cumston ceased business operations between 1895 and 1900.

There are tens of thousands (literally) of old uprights on the market or destined for destruction that can't be given away, so one as old as yours and that is not in good playing condition would have little value to anyone, I'm afraid.

I don't think that donating it to a church or a charity organization would be a kindly gesture, given that it needs work that such organizations can't normally afford. You may have to pay someone to haul it away.

Regards,
