Would love to hear other impressions of these 2 models in the Bosendorfer lineup- got to hear them in the same room only once recently. Fully expected to be blown away by the 225- found them to be quite different in character. The 200 seemed 'sweeter' more Bluthner-like. The 225 seemed more mellow, somber, deeper- probably would grow on me but the 200 seemed to have the more 'romantic' tone. Granted this could all be voicing and hence hoping to here from others re their impressions as these are the ones I am most interested in- the 214 was nice but didn't appeal to me as much as these which were surprisingly different from one another thanks!

Interesting. I purchased a new 200 back in 2005, at times I wish I had gone with the 225, just to have a few extra keys in the bass.

While I'm no expert, I think the differences you described are more likely to be voicing or from differences in the individual instruments rather than from scale design. Would love to hear the experts chime in on that though.

Anyway, good luck with your search, and let me congratulate you on your fine taste in pianos. ;\)

Indeed. And a 214 is more than just nice! \:\)
