Hi folks.
I was looking through sheet music the otehr day and found the "Theme From Ice Castles" (Looking Through the Eyes of Love". It was our wedding song 29 yrs ago. So, I was thinking if I could learn this, I could play it for my wife on our 30th anniversary next April.
So, during each of my practice sessions, I try to work on a measure or two of this song (haven't gotten very far yet! blush).
Now to my question...one of the first chords I came to is C Major 7th. Followed closely by C6.
I tired to find the correct fingering for this but it just isn't coming clear to me.
I can try to post an image of the sheet music later if that would help.

I think you'll need to post it so we can see.

For right hand I would play a C major 7th in root position with 1-2-3-5; C6 in root position I would play 1-3-4-5 or 1-2-3-4 depending on how I was moving to/from that chord.

For left hand I would play 5-3-2-1 for both (but perhaps that's just because my left hand isn't as flexible).

I think doing that will be awesomely romantic!! I don't know that song at all but I was only 10 in 1978!

I'll try to post it when I get home Andy. But that explanation is exactly the type of answer I was looking for! Thanks!

You could probably do a you tube search for Melissa Manchester Ice Castles and you'll be able to hear it.

Cobra1365 - I checked to see if musicnotes.com had this song and they do! I ordered a couple of songs from them the other day. While they're pricey for a bunch of individual songs, many of the songs offered are available in different keys, which can make it easier for "Alfred noobies" like us. They allow you to print the first page free of charge. It seems the song was written in Bb, so that might be the key Melissa Manchester sings it in. If you're planning to "serenade" your wife, you might want to do it in a different key, depending on your vocal range and type.

Here's the "standard" version:

Here's an easier version:

http://www.musicnotes.com/sheetmusic/mtd.asp?ppn=MN0016364

This one is cheaper and easier to play and has a few fingering numbers as well. It's in the key of C!

If you install the musicnotes player (skip the guitar player unless you play that)software you can have the computer play the piece back for you to get an idea if it sounds good ...and you can adjust the tempo too!

Best of luck with this project. It's nice to see there are a few romantics left in the world!!! thumb

I cheked out the music notes web page that Emissary suggested and found the sheet music there to be significantly different (easier) than the sheet musi I have! Mine is very convuluted after the 8th or 9th measure and progressively gets harder to understand. So, I am going to buy the one they have.

Thanks again for the lead Emissary!
