The content in the 2 seem similar, of course.
The difference is in the influence each one has. Music has a much bigger influence on youngsters, than motion pictures. It's much easier to take music with you everywhere you go and let it inform your actions, your dress, your speech, your everything. Teenagers yearn to be different (but not different from their peers), and music has always provided that 'difference'.

We've replaced our heros of old - people actually worth looking up to - with celebrities. There's something wrong with that picture, I think! Ask any teenager who they would rather be and they'll choose Snoop Doggy Dog over Socrates anyday. Of couse, the average teenager will say "who is Socrates? Did he smoke weed and have an i-phone with him 24/7? No? Looooooser..." Groan.
