Fortunately, I didn't miss anything.
Ooh harsh! Not a fan I take it?!

I bought the Feb/March issue of Pianist magazine just because it had an intermediate-level Einaudi piece in it. (The Snow Prelude no. 2 from Nightbook) Thank goodness there was also a CD. This is going to be a challenge to learn. My first piece of new age music.
Re: bindings: I take everything that needs spiral binding in order to be used effectively at the piano to a local print shop that will shave the spine and insert a spiral. Very, very cheap, and the reduction in annoyance is priceless! I do the same with paperback cookbooks. I think my choral singing teacher gets a kickback from the print shop -- a lot of us end up going there and giving them new business.

Ooh harsh! Not a fan I take it?! You could say that. I tell you what - if you like "New Age" music here is a tip: Listen to some pieces by Greg Maroney. As a composer he runs circles 'round certain others that we won't name. But one of them hails from Montana originally.

I'll give Maroney a shot.
I have to admit, a while back I bought a "New Age" piano CD off Amazon called Piano Dreamers or somesuch. It was awful. Reminded me of the worst sort of plinky plonky muzak. I don't get that feeling with Einaudi. Well, mostly anyway.

I knew you were working on that one for a little while Monica. Glad to get to hear it finally. I did notice it was a bit slow but then again I'm quite familiar with the piece so I could tell pretty quickly that you'd run longer than the album length. As for me, I'm working on another short piece from Nightbook. I'll likely wind up posting a video whenever I get done with it even if I do wind up using it for a future recital. I simply cannot keep things until a recital because then I just sit around and not work hard enough on new stuff. TTigg, I can't wait to hear whatever piece it will be for your recital entry.

Wow, the Einaudi thread sank down for a whole month? I figured now is a good time to dig it up as Einaudi will be making yet another trip to the USA this fall with confirmed stops in 4 cities so far. Here are the dates so far: + 08/10/2010 - NEW YORK + 13/10/3010 - SAN FRANCISCO + 14/10/2010 - LOS ANGELES + 16/10/2010 - MILWAUKEE (USA) Those are crazy backwards European style dates so don't get too confused trying to figure out what months 13, 14 and 16 are! I have bought tickets for the Milwaukee show on Oct 16th and I'm taking my parents there as well. (Dad's birthday is the 16th so it works out nicely.) It'll be a 6 hour drive or so but it'll be worth it. I'll keep updating the thread if more dates are announced. I wouldn't want anyone to miss out on a concert because they didn't know about it. (Plus, I want tickets to sell so he decides to keep coming back!)

Haha, 'crazy'? I work for an American company, and still don't understand your date system (which I have to use). Surely, it goes seconds, minutes, hours, days, months, years. Why did you guys rearrange the days and months in the order? Good luck anyone going to the concerts, and anyone who is sitting on the fence and not sure, definately go for it - you won't regret it!

Haha yes American dates are so annoying...particularly dates like 6/7/10. June or July? Who knows? Why can't there be one standard?! (answer: there is, americans choose to ignore it ;-p)
Anyway back on topic, I've chosen Monday as my first Einaudi piece to learn. It looks fairly easy, apart from the fast bits. I'll try and upload a bit later.

Excellent so now I've gotta decide if I'm going to see him @ Santa Monica again or San Fran - woot!!

I did a quick search for Nearby Hotels Possible things to do: Milwuakee Public Museum or Art Museum If you are flying in, my favorite Mexican restaurant in the city is Jalapeno Loco, it's across the street from the airport. Great staff, great service, great food!!
