It's serial number on the brass plate is S 3762 which idicates that it was made sometime prior to 1847.
Stamped into the wood on the left side when removing the upper face of the piano is the number 9973 which I take as an indication that the piano may have had a total rebuild in 1860.
The little box between the two bellows on the upper left half states
Re-Issue Patent April 2, 1912.
The Stoddard-Ampico has the number 111627 stamped into the wood on the left side at the base of the upper half. Anyone have an idea what that number sifgnifies?

The Stoddard-Ampico was the first version of the Ampico reproducing piano that American Piano Co introduced in the mid-teens. Charles Stoddard (an Upper West Sider) was a brilliant engineer and entrepreneur who developed the Ampico into one of the 3 leading reproducing piano systems. Many would argue that Ampico was actually the leading reproducing piano in the US, although Duo-Art would be a close second.
