Concert Pianist Jeffrey Biegel recently put some videos on You Tube. They are in HD so I usually put my setting on
720 and click on the full screen.

JB is a participant here in Piano World and has an active page on Facebook.

In preparation for this Sunday's Concert in NJ:

Chopin Ballade no. 1 in g minor, Opus 2

Chopin Andante Spianato et Grande Polonaise Brillante Part 1

Chopin's Andante Spianato et Grande Polonaise Brillante Part 2

Thanks LilyLady,

And in case that wasn't enough, he also posted...

Considered one of the hardest pieces to play:

And...

Just for fun (I've heard/seen him play this a couple of times in concert as an encore).

That ISLAMEY is incredible! I must have watched it a dozen times already. (I save these to my RealPlayer library)

Never heard the RUSH HOUR before and I love it!

What a treat this has been. Like a private concert in Jeffrey's music room!

I never miss an opportunity to say how much I dislike this piece, JB's performance notwithstanding! smile

If you want to hear some equally dazzling pianism by Jeffrey Biegel in a work that is no more profound than "Islamey" - but, at least, less bombastic, listen to this!

Schulz-Evler "concert arabesques"

Effortless, Viennese schmaltz, served with charm and grace! As they say : "Ya gotta luv it!"

What is so winning about Mr. Biegel's performance is that one has no idea how difficult this work is until one sees the score; then: Wow! How does he do it?

Regards,

But it was generous of you to take the time to watch it!

The big 'hit' for me was Rush Hour in Hong Kong. Blimey, I've never heard it dispatched with such an incandescent sparkle, all seasoned with the faint scent of opium.

BruceD, I'm sorry you have don't like Islamey. I enjoy it, because when I hear a good performance, I can really imagine the oriental fantasy it is supposed to portray.

That Strauss was also excellent! Wow!

I appreciate the sympathy. Don't worry, however, since I have learned to live without "Islamey" in my life!

Cheers!

Jeffrey will be playing the Prokoviev Concerto No. 3 next weekend here in So. Oregon at the Britt Festival. Unfortunately I will be out of town (so untimely). One of my absolute favorite pieces (composers) and pianists. I might be able to catch the dress rehearsal on Friday morning before we leave town....I had the pleasure (also) of hearing him play the Leroy Anderson Concerto. My son played violin in the symphony at the time. He was very impressed with Jeffrey's professionalism, talent and sense of humour. He is a great artist but also a very "real down-to-earth person."

For those of you looking at undergrad and grad schools...don't forget that Jeffrey is on the faculty of Brooklyn College (City University of New York)!

Whatever it is, it's too bad it's not in tune. It sounds as though it needs voicing, too. I guess it gets a pretty heavy workout under his hands, but for sharing, well, it's just too bad ...
