Portrait in jazz is my fave, but anything with LaFaro is wonderful. The other trios are great as well but there is something extra special about the trio with LaFaro and Motian.

Paris Concert Vol.1 I love the way he plays on "I do it for your love" and "Laurie". Conversations with myself is great too, even though it gets a little convoluted at times.

ALONE - his piano solo album especially Here's that Rainy Day and the previously unreleased medleys. He writes that this is a rare opportunity for him to shut himself in a room and experiment with solo. He also laments that jazz is becoming background music.
BTW Dave Frank’s next Masterclass on Fri 3 Sep PM is on Bill Evans.

For me, tracks 2 & 3 on EVERYBODY DIGS BILL EVANS redefine how ballads can be played. "Young and Foolish" and "Luck To Be Me". Time stands still on these cuts -- the tempos are so impossibly slow it's like Evans is walking a tight rope. Somebody once said it's more difficult to play something really slow than very fast and they may be right. The arrangements are stripped of ornamentation. The time between the notes is as important as the notes themselves. It's conceptual thinking about how to approach a tune on piano that is, I think, unique. The unsurpassed blend of intellect and emotion gives me a lump in the throat every time I hear it.

My favorite Bill Evans albums are Miles Davis albums Seriously, I love his comping. Some of the live stuff that the "Kind of Blue" band recorded really moves me. "Miles Davis At Newport" and "Jazz At The Plaza" are the albums that come to mind, though I was originally thinking of a box set that has most or all of those albums. "The Complete Columbia Recordings of Miles Davis with John Coltrane".

Philly Joe Jones was the drummer. I love the way they quicken the tempo around 4 minutes in, then back to slow for the finish. Very subtle but brilliant.

Any of his SOLO albums.
I am a big Bill Evans fan, but disagree with others on his output. But then it all depends on what you like, doesn't it?
