Hello, Adult Piano Adventures fans:
Has anybody started up PA again after Christmas? Haven't seen a post since then!
I'm retired and now trying to "really" learn piano after several half-hearted attempts since I was a teen.
I started on organ with a chord method, but never learned to read the left hand very well.
Then I found some Alfred books for children at a book fair and decided to start again "at the beginning".
I eventually got into Alfred Adult AIO book 3, without a teacher.
Then I signed up for some group lessons, and discoverd the Faber & Faber PlayTime series,
which I enjoyed a lot more than Alfred.
I backed up into Faber's PlayTime/ShowTime/ChordTime supplements and went through most of those.
(Chord Time was easy for me since I'd been through that style with the organ method).
It was fun being able to "play something",
but it didn't do much for my earlier goal of learning to read left hand
and play simple classics.
Then I tried starting Adult Piano Adventured Book 2 and as of August 2010 had gotten to Lean on Me.
We got a new teacher at the group lessons who is using a totally different approach,
but I'm missing the disciplined method so I'm trying to get back in to either Alfred or Piano Adventures.
I'm hoping to share experiences with other adult learners.
