“Burglary suspect said to sell piano.

"A North Little Rock man is facing a breaking and entering charge after he reportedly stayed in a building for several days and advertised a piano on Craigslist without the owners permission...for $800 and sold it…”

From today's Arkansas Democrat Gazette

[Except for the sheer stupidity of the burglar, not funny at all.]

I had an experience with that years ago. We received a call from someone who wanted to sell a piano. It sounded like a good enough deal to take a look and we got the address and made an appointment for a short while later. However we were busy in the shop and were delayed in getting there. When we arrived and knocked on the door there was no answer. We waited around a bit but no one ever showed, so we left our business card in the door and returned to the shop.

Hours later the phone rang. It was the police. Seems they had some questions for us. shocked When we explained how it was they found our business card in the door, they told us the resident of the apartment had arrived home to find his piano missing. That was the last we heard so we were off the hook but I don't know if they ever found the piano or the thief.

One might be excused for thinking a piano is fairly difficult to steal.

Amazing!

Until the grand piano theft from a Toronto Hospital last year, I had not heard of it. (The instrument was recovered.)

In retrospect, I wonder if the mayor had anything to do with the Toronto theft. It did, sort of, go up in a puff of smoke.

Um, Bob, it was a joke. Have you heard about the problems connected with the current mayor of Toronto and his "smoking" problem?

Google: "Rob Ford"

The guy didn't rob Ford; it was a hospital. I don't think the mayor was involved in either incident. They sure didn't think is was a joke. (What does this have to do with smoking?)

This piano looks really easy to play. It doesn't have all those notes:

Ryan's suggestion is the key to learning to play the piano. Ya don't have to hammer out long practice sessions.

In what way would this piano be "wonderful for kids?"

I did not want to start a new topic; this one is close enough.

Just now, watching the History Channel, I noticed that piano tuners were honored by a prominent mention in an Angie's List commercial. Don't use Angie's List, but it was nice to hear.

Utah folk can make sentences like "needs tuned" without batting an eye. Usually I hear "The baby needs changed."

You can also hear sentences with "might could" like "Elmer might could tune it."

"Needs tuned" would be common in Missouri, also. Growing up in a very Germanic area, I would often hear something like "Throw the baby down the stairs its rattle."

Yes, it's on in Orlando too - the tuner guy hits his tuning fork against the plumber's metal wrench. I'm quite sure that tuning fork needs calibration now.
