hi,

I am interested in getting my hands on the life and works of famous composers, possibly in a documentary format. Not looking for anyone specifically but a few of my favourites include:

Beethoven, Mozart, Grieg, Chopin, Rachmaninoff, Mendelssohn

I browsed the internet and it came up with 'The Famous Composers Series DVD set', has anyone seen those or bought them?

I am studying to be a piano teacher so hopefully I can use them as a teachers aid in the near future

Any feedback will be greatly appreciated

The BBC issued a series of composer documentaries. I have the Bach documentary, which is excellent.

There's a documentary of Mendelssohn hosted by Peter Ustinov.

I have it and it's great. Google it for it.

Regards.

I saw a TV series (3-parts?) about Beethoven a while ago. As far as I can figure out, the series originated from the BBC. It's a "dramatization," so not strictly a documentary. But factual, I think.

(just kidding)

i'm equally interested, if anyone found something, especially the BBC documentaries, i'd be very interested. I have the one on Mozart, which is excellent, though it seems like it's not even on amazon.
