I think I saw and scanned through that book last month while shopping for pencils with my dad. The book seems really narrow in drawing techniques and projection of volume. I wouldn't adhere too much to the book but DO use all techniques you can for proportions laugh

very good drawing ! did you draw it from a picture, or from the mind, real life?

If I can give critic, than I would say that you should work on your coloring. Watch a real photo with your eyes almost closes and see how dark a face actually is.
