Thanks to to all the good advice here on the forum, I dug deep and purchased a new Kawai CN-33 (rather than my original plan for a CN-23).

I assembled it yesterday and it looks great in Ebony! I was pleasantly surprised to find the very large packing box also contained a matching adjustable piano bench. I didn't know it came with the piano! More important it sounds great , feels great and I am having great fun (Concert Grand 2 sounds best in my room).

But I have a question. In my small room if I set the volume to much more than mid-way, a very low bass note (say C1), played hard will cause a bit of resonance or "zissing" around the treble end of the keyboard. Any one else experience this? Will this settle down after bedding in? Is it my room? Or is there a problem with the piano? (hope not)

ozzievoice, I don't know if the size of the room is related to the resonances that you are hearing, however I would attempt to do a little investigation work to pin-point the source of the vibrations.

I seem to recall a post from another PW forum member recently who spent a long time trying to isolate the cause of vibrations on his DP. It eventually turned out to be from a lamp on a shelf, and nothing to do with the piano after all.

Cheers,
James

Bit late to this. I just tried on my CN33 with the volume turned up to 3/4 and don't hear any zinging or buzzes in the treble end of the piano or keyboard. Lots of what I think is called sympathetic resonance if you hold the note down. Presumably you don't hear it with headphones?

As has been suggested, could be something on the keyboard/DP (are all the installation screws tight, is it on level floor), an object close by in the room, or the room (wall panels, windows, door) and so on.

I just tried mine and don't get any odd noises either, I hear the string resonance effect coming in though, have you applied any of the effects, increasing string resonance, etc., that may cause it? In my small room, 7' x 8', I don't normally use the volume above the third dot. I have my string resonance set at 3.

Thanks guys for the tips. All my settings are standard at moment. I have re-tightened all screws and the noise has GONE!
I'm now really happy and starting to play with different settings.
