This custom search works much better than the built in one and allows searching older posts.

This piece (Op. 24 no 9 in D flat) has a section that I believe would be considered a cadenza. There is a marking in the score that says a cut can be made from here-here if desired. [...] What edition do you have? In my edition of the score (Breitkopf), there are no cut signs on either side of the cadenza. I would be very reluctant to consider this passage as an ad lib. cadenza, in the same way that I would be loathe to replace the candenzas in Liszt's "Liebestraum (No. 3), Mozart's "Fantasia in d minor", or the Scriabin "Nocturne for the Left Hand alone," all of which have written-out cadenzas in the score. I would very much recommend it being played "as written." Regards,
