Hey pianists!

After searching for a long time I finally found the sheet music for piano music of the theme from the movie Braveheart.

Thought I'd share it on a big piano music forum so it'll be easier to find for others!

You can download the (five page) pdf here: http://easy-upload.nl/f/i0yOlANz

If you'd like to know how it's going to sound approximately you should check out my vid: Piano music (Braveheart theme) (NB: I played the fifth page just a little bit differently (the bass)).

Good luck practising and performing! wink

Actually, the more I play this, the more I like it. Something about it appeals to my taste. I sent it to my sister who is an adult beginner and she is working on it.

Thanks again.

Me too. smile Though I'm finding the rhythm in a few of the measures rather challenging. I need to go back and watch that YouTube a dozen more times.

As for the tricky bass on p. 5, I'm cheating finessing that by playing large block chords instead, in both hands. It changes the pace a bit (which is what I think the arranger was striving for in adding all those fast bass runs) and makes for a little more dramatic ending, but it has the advantage of being something I can actually play. wink

You can always improv a brigde, cuss and make anti-Jew and minority statements and then go back into the melody.. Works better if you get drunk and drive a car.

Just kidding of course.

Thought I'd bump this to ask a question of those of you who have played it: How are y'all pedaling on/through measure 67? Do you hold the pedal down the entire time, including the 4 16th notes? Or do you lift up right before those 4 notes? The latter makes a much more distinct pause/break in the action, and I'm not sure which way sounds best.

...and a related question: Do you pedal through all the 32nd note runs? That's what I've been doing, but I have been known to abuse the pedal horrendously, so I thought I'd ask.

I'm still having much difficulty with the rhythm on measure 33. But the rest of the piece is coming together (slowly). Such a beautiful melody.

Hi,
I have spent the past week learning this piece. It has become my 'enjoyment piece' to finish off with once I have practiced my exam pieces.

I too am finding some of the triplet rhythms a little challenging, so am now working with the metronome and also just trying to feel the music and seeing what comes naturally ..

With the pedalling, I tend to hold the pedal for the whole bar (in ref to bar 67) but do a clean break at bar 68.

BTW - what grade would you rate this piece. I am currently doing grade 6 AMEB (Australian standards)

Overall, a lovely piano solo - I just need to finish off learning the last page

Thanks, crystal!

I don't play classical music as a rule so am quite unfamiliar with grades etc. Given the rhythmic challenges, I'm guessing it's at least early intermediate.

Right now my strategy is just to listen to the video over and over again, and then basically close my eyes and hope for the best when I'm playing those tricky measures. whome
