Well I've been reading a lot of these threads and am still a little confused as to what I should be looking for. Right now I have a Sherlock-Manning piano at home which sounds pretty good, and an old casio keyboard which is absolute garbage and after playing the piano for the summer is unusable. I have only been playing for about 6 months but i am pretty serious about it and practice and play at least an hour a day. I have around a $500 to spend as I am an extremely poor university student. I was wondering if its worth buying a used keyboard, or electric piano or if I should just buy knew. All I really want is something with weighted keys and sounds descent, any other features do not matter to me really. People seem to think that my financial situation would call for a casio but I like the looks of the yamahas and Rolands better. Any thoughts on my problems? Thanks for the help!

Other then the PX130 there is a Korg SP170 and I've seen the Yamaha P85 discounted down to close to $500. Other then those you'd have to get lucky and find a good used DP.

http://www.amazon.com/Casio-PX-130-88-Ke...0523&sr=8-1

It's $450, light weight, portable, weighted 88 keys, sounds great on Piano voice (sounds okay for other voices), and best of all it's simple!

I bought one recently for college and I am bringing it to my apartment next week!

You can check this sight to learn more about this model:
http://www.priviapiano.com/products/PX-130

EDIT: It doesn't come with a stand. It does come with an A/C adapter and sustain pedal.

EDIT2: I would not recommend buying a used DP because it could have some defects or some nonfunctional keys. Also, if you are looking for a weighted key DP, I would not recommend Yamaha P85 nor P95. Their keys feel very light. I was in your dilemma for about 3 weeks and I finally decided to go to a music store to try some DPs out. Trust me on the Yamaha P85/P95. Their keys are lighter than Casio PX-130.

I was in your position recently and have to concur with the other replies - I went and played the Yamaha p95 and Casio px-130 (I wanted to play the Korg 170 as well, but they didn't have it). The Casio has heavier weighted keys and while the place I went wouldn't price match I found it at b&h photo for $446 free shipping and no sales tax (and I just checked it's still that price).

I'm very happy with it - it's my first DP and I'm sure I'll want something better, but for now, it's perfect and it fit my budget.

Ok I appreciate everyone's advice. I went around to every instrument shop in my city, about 7 places, and ended up getting the Korg SP170, I really like it.
