The double one should be better; the single X-stands are pretty weak, even if the PX-130 is reasonably light. I have a Z-stand and that thing is seriously heavy duty. It also folds flat for transportation. On the other hand, it's a bit more expensive than either of those...

I've never bought a stand before and I have no experience in knowing what to look for. My budget is around $30.00 but I'm willing to go up to $35.00.

Not sure, but I had that Yamaha stand (2nd link) long ago and it was barely stable enough for the cheapo 61-key I had. I'd avoid the single X stands, especially for an 88 key keyboard.

The Amazon double-braced stand has a weight limit of 200 lbs, which sounds pretty sturdy. I'm not familiar with the brand. I've used a Quik-lok Z-stand (Z-716L) for years and been pretty happy with it. This spring I got a Quik-lok T-20 double-braced X-stand. Haven't used it much but it seems sturdy. It's going for $35 at http://www.djdeals.com/quiklokT20.htm?gclid=CO7H3eea6qMCFUWC5QodlHrl1wOther Quik-lok styles are at quiklok.com People often say that X-stands don't leave much leg room for a seated player. Something for you to consider!

For me, the Guitar Center house brand "ProLine" stands have worked very well. A lot of people complain about an x-stand wobbling, but I've never had that problem. I guess that's because my keyboards all weigh about 80lbs or more. That makes things pretty solid.
One caveat I do have is that I have my K2500XS and my K2600X (both identical in size, shape, weight, etc) sitting on two of what should be identical ProLine double-braced x-stands. The thing is, my K2600X sits at standard piano height (about 28 in), while my K2500XS sits an inch or two above. I have compensated by adjusting the bench I use at that keyboard, but I wish they were the same!
I bought the two stands several months apart -- maybe even up to a year apart, so that may be the reason.

Except they make a workstation look like a dinner table I agree they are pretty stable though. I wouldn't recommend an x-stand for anything relatively light and shallow at all, as the keyboard will tend to slide around and rock -- but not in a 'good' way. My Kurz's don't have that problem since they're so huge.

The first looks like a copy of the Quik-Lok I recommended. The second is a narrower model designed more for big speakers and such - avoid for keyboards.

Another thing to watch for--some stands are too high for a seated player. On my acoustic piano, the tops of the white keys are 28 inches above the floor.

Some people don't like X-stands at all. They say their knees bump into the stand. Maybe. But your knees should not extend so far under the piano, They should only go in as far as the white keys. But everyone is different. You may want to try out an x-stand at the store to see if they work for you. Places like Guitar center and Sam Ash have them. I have no problem with knees and x-stands but some do.
As for brand, my guess is there is just one factory and they stick many different brand names on. If you do get and x-stand get a "double X" and make sure it is welded construction and not the kind you have to assemble. The welded ones are more rigid.

Yah, I think you need a max height of around 24 inches to simulate an acoustic piano height - DPs are around 5 inches from the bottom of the piano to the tops of the white keys.

I have one similar, for my FP7. For 88 keys keyboard, the dimensions of the stand are not so high. Furthermore, it has a peculiarity: you can adjust the width, in order to let the keyboard rubber feet to lean perfectly on the stand. Other stands make the keyeboard to lean on the base and not on the feet.

No one mentioned the QuikLok WS 550 so i figured that I would. It's a little above your stated price range but surprisingly less expensive than what you might expect to pay for such a stable surface. You can find them on the electronicBay for a steal. I went thru all of them... X stands, Z stands, even a U stand and a V stand before I settled on this one!!!
You can even add to it when you need to expand. I added a small shelf for my audio interface and a large shelf to hold my notebook PC where I run Ivory (soon to be Ivory II).
It folds up to a small T shape and is very portable. And it's height adjustable too! It's worth a look. I recommend it!

No one mentioned the QuikLok WS 550 so i figured that I would. I think my second link is to that or very similar, though MF doesn't say that exactly. I believe the WS8550 by On-Stage is pretty much the same thing too (my first link) though I can't vouch for their quality. I agree with you, I've owned two Z stands and don't really like them very much - hard to setup and take down, and the bar in the middle limits legroom. I gave away our expensive X stand because I hated it so much (no legroom and the height was off). I've looked at those things made of a vertical column with little legs sticking out all over and they seem quite tippy in the store. Nothing works as well as the WS550, it's super adjustable, very sturdy, the height is perfect, and setup is a snap. If you ever give up keyboard you could put a piece of wood on top and use it as a table. Very versatile.

I believe the WS8550 by On-Stage is pretty much the same thing too Indeed they are close enough to being the same! Sorry about that. I should also mention that when I added the accessory bar across the back two legs, this thing became ROCK solid sturdy. Curt
