I don't see an option here to do a survey, and I would like to know a little about techs here, so will do some individual postings phrased in a way that you only have to click the topic so it will show as "viewed" and indicate a positive response. You don't need to read post. Thanks to those who choose to do!

That is meaningless SM. Many people will simply click on it to see what in the world you are talking about or what you are referring too. What's the point?

I see from your survey results that there are 56 female tuners here.

The point is this:

If I have to ... on a daily basis,.......... sift through continual meaningless postings of cute kittens, dogs, birds and people doing goofy things on one thread, and almost every classical song ever written in somebody’s goofy temperament in another, further.......then I get to read about somebody’s operation on their hernia;

I believe that Piano World member SM Boone can post whatever question she bloody well wants to.

You are not required to like it.

If I like it: good.

If I don't like it: good.

I can read what I want,

I can like what I read or not,

and I also can have my own opinion on what I read.

I can not tell somebody what to to post or not post.

Nobody can tell me what to post ot not post.

Of course there are some rules to respect, but this is a public forum and anybody here can post whatever he wants and everyboody can answer freely to a post he likes or dislikes.

Your right on that. I've enjoyed that "Groot" thread ever sense I joined this forum. Gives me a break between hammers and Key repair..

I suppose if every member of Piano World that visited this forum were to put up an OT thread whenever they feel like it, they would have a right to do it. Unfortunately after a while, you would have to sift through 3 pages of posts to occaisionally find one relative to the title of the forum. Likewise, nobody would throw handcuffs on me for reading a book on history in the library, and then putting it back on a shelf labeled Astronomy. Its not right, its a nuisance and a problem... but not a big one until everbody does it.

Please explain to us the meaning of your OT post...if you think it is any different in nature.

Let's give a Jerry a break here. I think what he meant was not, that you can't post anything you like, but that the OP's method of taking a survey would not work like he/she thought it would.

As stated, it is informal on my part, it's not a scientific study. I am new here and simply am interested in basic demographics. I am a left-handed woman, tuning with right hand. Hats is off to the lefties who do it left! How do you do that???
I set it up so folks could "view", without viewing, and that would be a positive response. Now, if those original directions are followed, one can see tally. Of course I do understand that the original statement of purpose is now separated from source. No scientific data here...
So thanks for "viewing", peace to all. S

Thanks Byron, that is exactly what I meant. Many people will click on it just to see what the thread reads giving it not a true consensus. I meant no harm SM. I should have worded it better. Sorry... Welcome to the forum and good luck in your survey.

I do wish "being pounced on" by other members would stop though....

what does the little tent thingie mean that is beside my post? Sorry, i'm a newbie here and am trying my best to abide by rules & reg. It is not my orientation to do that. I struggle.
I've already been called down by above powers for posting that I had stuff for sale,... so, have I done something else wrong? Sherrie

Jerry:

It is a test. Only those that are good at thier job can see the tent thingy. You just aren't looking hard enough. There! you see it now, don't you...? (Yes, I stole this from Hans Christian Anderson)
