Well, I tuned my two pianos this morning. All went pretty well but, as I knew would happen before I even arrived to the church, something other than tuning was necessary. All 3 NOT JUST 1 or even 2, but all THREE pedals had squeaks. Now, that is exactly what I wanted to do first, crawl around underneath the piano to find them. Why???? Just my luck, that's why. The pedal ferry was following me around. Anyway, I'm tired and I think, that sounds like a great excuse for a nice afternoon nap don't you?

Keep in mind that if they hired you for tuning, all you have to do is tune. However, in that situation I would come back when I feel up to fixing the pedals.
The pedal ferry, huh! I have tuned pianos on ferries. I remember once going to a job like that and getting there not only before the piano came, but before "there" got there!
(From beautiful Oakland, where there is no "there" there.)

How is climbing stairs? It will take a while to fully heal.

Well, to be perfectly honest with you BDB, I didn't fix the pedal squeaks which was rare for me. I started asking myself, what in the heck are you doing under here today? You'll be back tuning this same piano in two months, it'll wait and you can heal! If it can't wait, you can still heal and fix it later so, I got up and tuned it instead.... Never did take that nap though! Did office work instead. Today, I'm going for 4 tunings! If I come back dead, we'll know why. I really do feel pretty good just a tad on the sore side.

How is climbing stairs? It will take a while to fully heal. Forgot to answer you Bob. Climbing stairs is fine. Going down is always easier though in any case. I can still run, sort of, down them without falling! I haven't tried this feat yet since the surgery however! Not that brave just yet... So, going on Day 10, beginning today. I am able to do most everything that I did before now. I need to be careful of certain movements that cause a ripping sensation in that area so I am careful what I do yet like heavy lifting and pulling piano actions. I called the doctor about it. He said it's normal, nothing is ripping, it will go away and is a common complaint for a while. When that happens though, it hurts a lot! So, I am careful.
