This isn't my forum and I don't normally read it. But a moderator report drew my attention. The post pointed out was the one containing "Arbeit Macht Frei". Now it appears to be in response to a post that said, "wer immer strebend sich bemüht". That translates to Whoever endeavors to strive, to him may we grant redemption".

I really don't know if that post was directed at Ed or not. If it was, it was exceedingly unkind, to say the least. PERIOD. I would hope this is NOT the case. But then I've seen several thoughtless and cruel posts in this topic.

Can we have civil discussion without name calling and making commentaries about other member's talents and abilities? Can we not have intelligent discussions without being cruel to others?

My piano goal before I die is to write music that brings peace on earth, good will toward all mankind.

Reading this thread has been like watching a train wreck.

Mr. Weiss - I'm truly sorry for your family's tragic loss.

Intolerance takes many forms - including dislike of different styles of music. Music is music, folks. Let's live and let live.

I'm sorry, writing "Arbeit macht frei" doesn't really mean much. Especially when answering another sentence in German (which I'd wager few of us are fluent in), and especially with nothing at all in this thread even remotely in context of any racial / religious hatred. All I see is a bunch of poorly educated chaps pointing the finger yelling, "zomg he sayz da german wordz !!". Sorry.

It reminds me of the so called "Godwin law", and goes to show the poor level of the discussion this thread generated (though it had a very interesting and valid first post.)

Huh? It may not mean anything to you. But I'm pretty sure kk knew exactly what he was saying to me. Call it a hunch. Saying "doesn't really mean much" downplays the vile nature of what was said. Sorry.

I like a lot of your posts, but you're just wrong on this.
You just don't know the history and the meaning.

It's like if someone said cross burnings don't mean anything and African-Americans shouldn't get upset if they happen. All it would mean is that the person just doesn't know.

I think you're right.

He admits being 'cruel' and even seems proud of it. I'm surprised he's been allowed to continue as unfettered on the site as he has been.

Thanks Mark. It's probably early morning or something across the pond. We'll see what, if anything happens. Should be interesting.

I'm currently teaching a studio of 25 students, accompanying two dance classes, and involved in nightly rehearsals and performances of a musical production.

If I actually had time to deal with all the juvenile trash in this thread, I'd probably be sending out about a dozen PM's notifying people of how incredibly disappointed I am in the conduct displayed here.

Instead, I'm locking the thread and going to bed. Those of you who have seen fit to bicker and argue the hackneyed, obvious, and pointless issues of the last several pages of this thread are simply not worth my time and energy.
