I promise a one of a kind performance. After you hear "MacArthur Park" in a few days, you will be drawn even closer (or further away!), but nothing neutral.

A Speedo video is certainly NOT off the table. Heck, it's the internet right?

I don't have a Speedo but I do have a great array of belly dance costumes.

But you aren't getting a video from me this time, anyway. That was March.

I ran my recording of "Melodia" past an older lady who is a very experienced keyboard player and dancer. She said, "It sounds like it's just not settled into your body yet. Maybe it needs more rehearsal." When I told her that was about my 40th take (literally), she said, "Try for 45, then."

Sigh.

Oh my! I did forget too, that's bad. Thakfully it's still August and my piece is not a monstrous thing to tackle.

I recorded my waltz in e minor posth a couple of weeks ago. I'm cringing listening to it. Thankfully the recital is still 60 days away.

I think listening to your recording is a great tool for improvement. You hear all the details that you don't hear while you're playing.

Here is my submission. This is about the 52nd take-- it required more than that 45 tries! I finally learned to sing the trill.

On to attempting to record 16th century Polish lute music, for my final "Chopin 200" project.

Yes, this recording process certainly is useful for learning.

Mati, which of these pieces is NOT a monster? I was shocked at the difficulty of this innocent-looking little song! cry

Hi all,

We're still working on some technical issues. Greg has several hours of work to do in order to ensure that the submission process goes smoothly. Unfortunately, it's not quite as simple as flipping a switch! laugh

Greg has a nasty cold right now, so he might not be feeling up to the challenge in the short term. I know we all appreciate his hard work on these events. I myself never realized how many hours of behind the scenes prep is necessary to make these events possible. Thanks Greg!

We still have four weeks before the e-cital date, so it's great to see such enthusiasm this early! Hang in there, and we'll post the "call for submissions" as soon as the site is ready.

Regards,
Heidi

Because I'll be leaving the US on Oct. 1, and in Paris on Oct. 17 (God willing!), I just want to make sure that my submission is someplace where you can find it at the appropriate time. I don't think there will be any problem with getting the Box.net file.

(In fact, a bunch of people have downloaded it already-- Box.net keeps telling me so-- but no one has made any comments! shocked That is making me a little nervous about it!)

Sincere thanks again for all you are doing to make this event happen. Greg, I'm sending you virtual herbs for your cold!

No problem, Elene. We might be accepting submissions before October 1, but if not, we'll make sure we have yours before you leave.

You are going to have a great trip!

I am so looking forward to this recital and I am reserving comment until then.

I did not get the chance to comment on your "MacArthur Park" but I did enjoy reading your commentary and performance, I look forward to your Chopin recital piece and know you will do it justice.

Thanks Carl. I've got about 17 versions of my piece that I have been experimenting with for a while and have decided to sew a few together in a compilation format.

Sure, I know this sounds like a train wreck but it is actually turning out pretty cool. Besides, I had to kick and scratch to get in here so I figure I only have one shot anyway so why not submit it?

It will be worth the price of admission, I promise.

Greg is laid up in bed with a 102.4 fever, so I don't expect we'll hear from him for a few days. Usually the deadline is a day or two before the e-cital date, so probably October 15th or 16th - but let's wait for confirmation from Greg.

Mr. S-H, I can sure sympathize with having 17 different versions. Going to be interesting.

We're probably okay to start taking submissions. I had to add some additional logic to support multiple e-citals, but it is there now. There is also a new "by performer" search capability, under the "View All Submissions" subcategory, which searches all e-citals past and present, and presents a player for those entries from past e-citals.

I'm also pleased to report that most of our pages are now W3C-compliant.

To submit your recording for this latest e-cital, use the URL below:

http://www.ecital.net/ecital/submit.php

I will not be able to contribute 64/3 to this, unfortunately.

Hope everyone likes the new look, updated for the Waltzes!

Not related to the e-cital, but does anyone think it might be appropriate to put together a special ecital page for Phlebas, with just his recordings?

Greg, I hope you're feeling better!

I just now submitted my song-- it looks like it worked. Please let me know if there was any problem.

The new format is incredibly impressive and I look forward to hearing everyone. They'd better have good WiFi in Paris!
