Is anybody going to buy the zoom h1 recorder? I am thinking about buying it but do not know much about it. What do you all think? Do you think its any good?

Well, I've been using Zoom H4n for some time now and I really like it. Very versatile recorder. H1 is smaller but there are also less features than in H4n. What do you want? H1 wouldn't satisfy my needs, but H4n surely does.

I do not know anything much about recorders. I would like to record myself playing the piano so I can hear any mistakes I make and also to record myself and download on the computer so I can join in the recitals. I really don't want to pay too much for it.

dat77, the H1 is a new product, so I haven't seen one in person. From what I can tell from the specs and reviews on amazon, it has the same mics and frequency response as the H2. And people on amazon who have tried both say they can't hear any difference.

I can recommend the H2 whole-heartedly. There was one review about the H1 which said that setting the mic input level was tricky, and that the auto-gain didn't work well in a live music setting. That might make me a little nervous. But you sure can't beat that price.

On the other hand... the H2 is not much more expensive at all and has a proven track record. I'd suggest going for it.
