As a beginner on a digital piano I am wondering:

Is it playing at low volume level the best way to learn to hit the weighted key properly?

I am learning Monday (Einaudi) and I notice that if the volume of the DP is not set enough low, (both with the speakers or with the headphones) I don't learn to play correctly piano and forte in the right way according to the spirit of the song, and to well underline single notes when they must be underlined.

Is this a correct point to notice or just a silly observation?

For all digital pianos that I've played, having them quieter hurts rather than helps because you don't get to hear the dynamics so well. Same with using a practice pedal on an upright.

  • Debussy - Le Petit Nègre, L. 114
  • Haydn - Sonata in Gm, Hob. XVI/44

I don't know.. I notice that if the sound comes out too easily by hitting the key even softly I tend to be satisfied with the fact the sound is there without concentrating on the different intensities in different notes/passages ...

Maybe it is my limit..
