Hello, I am new to this forum, so forgive me if this is an old topic. I am looking for a pedal for my Casion PX 130 (half pedaling function) which would fit also my stand (standard type - crossed legs) Thanks!

amsterdam2010, welcome to the forum.
I believe the PX-130 includes a damper pedal as standard, however I'm afraid I do not know if this unit (or the PX-130 itself) supports half-pedalling functionality.
My recommendation would be to contact Casio technical support with your query directly.
Kind regards, James x

I've seen this suggested as an option of the crappy stock original, however perhaps those who actually use this on the Privia line of DPs could say whether it supports half pedalling? http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/SP2.html
No that wasn't a bum note! It was my ... "artistic interpretation" emerging.

I have an SP-2 connected to my Yamaha P155. It is well built but it is only a simple on/off switch.

Amsterdam The only real option you have is to buy the 3 pedal bar that Casio makes. It is the only one that supports half pedaling. It is made out of plastic and there have been reports about it cracking and becoming unuseable. It is made to fit the Casio wood stand. So unfortunately, it is propertiary. The m-audio is another way to go, but you will give up the half pedaling option.

thanks, I think that the 3 pedal bar is probably the solution, meaning that I will have to buy the side stands as well.....

I've set up a Arduino based system that will take multiple pedal inputs and connect them to the MIDI input on my PX310. This set up would not work for the PX130, as it does not have a MIDI in connector. I used the following project as the basis for my circuit: http://tomscarff.110mb.com/foot_pedalsx4_USB_MEGA/foot_pedalsx4_USB_MEGA.htmI keep planning to work on adding a mod wheel to this, but it would need a higher resolution a/d converter and I've never worked on it past initial thoughts on the project. I keep hoping someone would figure out where to get the Casio Pedal connector and diagram the connectors for this - however not all half damper pedals are the same, so it might still take some work to get this to work independent of the Casio pedal bars. I myself have been confused about the M-audio SP2 half pedal function. They advertise it as having half-pedal, but then people say it doesn't do half-pedal. On the other hand, I have heard reviews stating it DOES half-pedal. The only thing I can think of that would explain it is the old SP2 did not support half-pedal, but the ones being manufactured new now do. Or, I suppose those people could be lying, can't imagine why they would though. Very mixed information indeed.
Does anyone have a new one to test my theory? I'm actually thinking about contacting M-audio directly to see what they say.

You could borrow a sustain pedal from someone where the plug has three distinct sections. The end of the plug, the part that you insert, should look like a stereo plug. Try a pedal with a 'stereo' plug at the end and see if that gives you the desired result.
In practical use, in a combo setting for example, these features look great on paper but you don't miss them if you don't have them.
I realize I'm in the minority here since numbers on paper seem to mean so much to so many.

May I point to this thread: http://www.pianoworld.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/1511310/Modding_FC3_pedal_to_work_with.htmlThe last poster there said that he could adapt a Yamaha FC3 pedal. He also says, it worked, but did not work perfectly. There might be a difference in voltage range. These 3 terminal pedals usuall contain a potentiometer. The processor probably has an 8 Bit analog input. Almost all one-chip processors have many of them today. Normally the Voltage range is equal to VCC. That means 0-5V or 0-3.3 V. It can however be that the developers decided to use this range only partial or that the pedal has Resistors or trimmers for start and end value inside. He also wrote about some duplicated value. Possibly the cable screen ws not connected properly. Or possibly a damping capacitor is required. I do, however, not recommend careless trial-and error experiments without specific knowledge. A short circuit can easily destroy the instrument. Now, the same is true for car driving. A wrong movement or pedal press can destroy the car and yourself. But if you know how to prevent short circuit situations and how to calcultate a voltage divider potentiometer it should be possible to adapt this pedal..... The first step should be to find out, how this is intended to work. Possibly measure the voltages and measure if the TRS plug has connection with the proprietary pedal connector... HTH, Peter

Let's all write to Casio and ask them to just make a standalone 3-pedal unit.

Somebody else has written, it is easy to buy only the 3 pedal unit with this horizontal board. This works without stand and the pedal unit can be removed and mounted to a small basement board that stands on floor.

Greg. Yup. I have the 3 pedal furniture bar unit, and although I've not take it apart, the (plastic) pedal assembly is screwed into the bar, so could be removed and remounted elsewhere if you fancy a spot of DIY. It could probably be done non-destructively so that if you wished you could always put it back into the furniture bar. Alternatively ChrisA's duct tape suggestion works.

Thanks for the ideas. Now, I repeat, let's ALL write to Casio. Greg.
