What's the difference between the Graded Hammer (GH)P-155
and the Graded Hammer Effect (GHE) CP-33

Looked on Yamaha's web sight and couldnt find anything.

Graded Hammer Effect basically is supposed to be a premium graded hammer. I do not know what the difference really is although I would say that you would have to play the pianos and see if you can tell the difference and if it is worth it or not. I think as you get into the more expensive yamaha pianos that they come with graded hammer effect but then again I looked at the really expensive pianos and they don't seem to stress GH or GHE as much as real wood piano keys and more authentic feel of an acoustical piano.

Also I think the CP33 is more of a stage piano versus the p155 which could be a stage piano but designed as much for the home as the stage. The p155 has internal speakers and I think the CP33 has to have external speakers setup.

Depending on your use would depend on which might work best for you. I just ordered a p155 for my first digital piano because most of my playing will be for kids and at home, but I like the option of portability although it probably won't be moved once I get it setup at home.

If you wanted a stage piano and also internal speakers the Cp-300 would be a nice step up from the CP-33

it shows graded hammer effect when selecting the p155 keyboard, but I have seen other places where it just states GH Graded Hammer for the p155, so who knows I just know that I played the ydp-181 (semi-new?) and it was more of a furniture style and had a really good feel to it and I was told the p155 was similar. So for my tastes I went with the p155 because it was to have a similar action and took up conceivably less space and/or at least it could be portable.

I'm pretty sure that "GH" is Yamaha's new word for "GHE". I think they are the same thing, or so close you can't notice the difference. The main difference is the date the web page was created, they seem to slowly be converting over to use the term "GH"

I think these are the levels:

Good: GH or GH or GHS
Better: GH3
Best: Forgot the 2 letters but they are made of wood and found on the CLP 380 and 370

That's NW (Natural Wood). The name misleads to the assumption that it is made entirely out of wood, but it's only a small visible piece of the white keys, the major part is still plastic.

The order is NW > GH3 > GH = GHE > GHS

What about Yamaha's new "NW-Stage" as used in the CP-1 and CP-5? As these were the last key action released perhaps maybe NW-Stage > NW.

And the lower end goes even lower with "Graded Soft Touch" as in the NP-30

Putting slivers of wood on the sides of the keys (NW) is marketing gimmickry. It's really no different than a GH3.

It's especially funny how many people say that the NW feels SO much better.
