Indeed it was fun to watch, but after watching some other videos with Jonathan I got into thinking mode. Isn't he too young to be exposed on the internet, the youtube and any kind of fame? I mean he's 3!!!!

If he was in puberty or something, at least he'd have an opinion. Right now, at the age of 3, with so many videos of him, playing the violin, conducting, etc... was the kid ever asked? Is the kid capable of understanding and accepting such responsibility and exposure?

I honestly think that this kind of thing should be illegal for such a young age!

I understand perfectly the will to share the videos with people you know, your friends, your relatives, but in youtube? For millions to watch?

Sorry for expressing myself so strongly... :-/

The truth is that all the Internet videos out there, very few actually get watched.

If you post a video online, it will mostly only get watched by your friends, relatives and co-workers. As for the few others, who cares about them?

It's only the occasional exceptional video that gets millions of watchers. It's more likely that all these videos will get deleted and forgotten.

The videos by that 3 year old have between 2,000 and 6,000 posts. So your idea about it being viewed by friends and family is not correct.

It wasn't the boy's choice to post them and he probably can't understand the idea even if his parents "asked his permission".

I don't think there's anything wrong with putting this online; lots of parents post videos and pictures of their children.

My question is: How much musical aptitude and sensitivity can you conclude this child has from this video alone? I think a tremendous amount.

Not too sure really. I've put a few videos online, none of which I've advertised more than a few forums. One of them has currently 20,000 views or more. And I'm not really interested in even advertising it anymore...

Jason: I will agree that this kid has musicality. Or at least that he's enjoying music much more than most adults I know! Which is great and it's fun and it's awesome!

It remains on what good is it to know that from such a young age? Are we still desperate for more 'young prodigies', will this help the kid to have a balanced life and grow up musically?

I'm sorry if I come down on the wrong side of this philosophical argument, but I sure had a blast watching this kid having a blast "conducting" so well! Wow! He has the moves!

My intuition tells me that his parents love music, and want him to know the joy of it as well.

I remember when I hit my son in the face with a football by accident when he was about 4. I am glad it is not on YouTube. He is not, and never will be, a football player.

hit your son with a football? ouch...

I haven't done much harm to my kids (yet... but I'm quite rought when playing with them... throwing them around, etc...).

Just to counter myself here: This video is not far apart any we see on 1,000,000$ videos, or lucky videos, or whatever these shows are called.

I still don't like them, but anyhow...

It was fun, it was a blast for me too! And almost an inspiration!

Lots of people do lots of things that aren't so good.

I found it tremendously enjoyable to watch the video as most have, but that doesn't mean it was right for the parents to post it. Although it's only natural for parents to brag about their children, some perhaps take this too far. Not saying it's a horrible crime but...
