Schimmel K169DE is home!

I am about to see and listen to a 5 year old Schimmel K169T in mint condition (well kept and almost never played). I had heard Schimmel C182 and liked the sound and tone. I am expecting Koncert to sound even better. I am wondering what would be a reasonable price for a 5 year old K169T. It is in a fancy wood finish. I had read some posts here that in 2005, a new Koncert was only sold in the 20s or 30s depending on the size. However 2010 models were listed in the 50s and 60s. The other question is, if the price are similar, would it be better to get a new Classic or used Koncert? Thanks in advance for any info and advice.

Both are excellent, but there are noticeable differences side by side. Schimmel doesn't get enough recognition for their phenomenal actions. Between the 2, the Classic tends to be a little lighter touch. I think the action on the Konzert gives you greater dynamic range, but for home use, some of our customers prefer the sweet, balanced Classic. IMO, the C182 is lyrical and effortless, the K169 is precision and potential.
The more technical the player, the more they tend to prefer the Konzert. You can push it really far if you choose. Even though the C182 is longer, the extra width of the K169 makes up for much of that size difference. The difference between the C182 and the K189, however, is huge. The Konzert series used to be a bargain and the Classic is now. I'll look forward reading your impressions of the used Schimmel after you've seen it.

Finally we got to see and listen to the K169T. It looks beautiful and sounds wonderful! It definitely sounds bigger than it looks. Every single note came out with depth and full, and at the same time very clear. We didn't try the C182, as the dealer recommended C208 to us. C208 sounds "bigger", after all it is over a foot longer. Sam, I think you are absolutely right about the action. I don't play, my kids do. My 11 year old felt it's 'easier' to play on the C208, and the piano sounds louder and fuller when she intended it to. Both pianos sound very clear, balanced and sweet. 6'10" might be a bit too big for the room it is going to be in. Also I expect my kids to continue study piano and be more technical and demanding, and Koncert might have advantage in the long run. Haven't made the final decision yet, but I think we are close :-).
We are going to sell our 5 year old Yamaha U1. If anyone is interested, PM me.

Well your kids are very lucky whichever way you go!
My piano teacher has a Koncert Schimmel (he is a concert pianist) and he is very happy with it. I love it too!

Decision is made!!!!!! We are getting the Schimmel K169DE in Babinga Satin finish (it's actually a Diamond Edition, not Traditional), and it's newer than we thought, less than 4 years! Every part of the piano says "bring me home and you won't regret". Anxiously waiting for the piano to arrive.

Congratulations, the Schimmel is beautiful! Your kids are wonderful little piano players - they certainly deserve a great piano, given they can play like they can at such a young age. Hope you all enjoy the lovely addition to your home.

your Schimmel is gorgeous and your children play SO well. I am very impressed with their skills (maybe you can keep the other piano for 2-piano works).
(i love Schimmels)

Yes, your kids are very good. They are extremely luck to have parents that provide them with such quality pianos.

Nice! Just curious, why did you go for the 169 and not the larger ones, there seems plenty space?

Thank you all very much from your kind and encouraging words! apple, we are keeping the U1 for now, as their piano teacher also suggested some pieces for 2 pianos. It will be neat to see them play like that. However, right now, I can hardly bear to listen to the U1. We had some friends over yesterday, one girl played a scale on Schimmel then went to U1 and "fell off" the bench before she hit the 3rd note, LOL! I wonder how well they will blend together . The funny thing was our U1 was well kept, and sounded fine before the Schimmel arrived.
