It looks like it might hit the street before the Rolands...

Nice! Only 100 Euros more than the MP5 too - that's a lot of stage piano for the money! Cheers, James x

Nice! Only 100 Euros more than the MP5 too - that's a lot of stage piano for the money! Cheers, James x With the lack of piano reviews for the MP6 at this stage (for obvious reasons!), I have been reading more and more about the MP5 to gauge what I should be expecting from the MP6. The reviews for the MP5 are very good indeed. I have a strong feeling I will like the MP6 if I take the stage DP route rather than the built in speaker route. I know the RD700 range is good but I am a little sick of the sheer amount of them I see around. In some ways, if the piano sound isn't quite as good as the NX (and i'm talking shoving your ear up to the speaker to gauge the difference) i'm warming to the idea of having something a little different compared to the majority. A bit like choosing an Alfa Romeo instead of a BMW.. Sounds a bit dumb I know but whatever floats your boat...! Regards. Rimmer

Not at all Rimmer - I'd choose an Alfa over a Beemer every time!
Cheers, James x Actually, I don't like BMW's in general so that was a bad example..

Maybe I'm just making a virtue of necessity... but it seems to me that, for quality per dollar (or Euro), you could be better off with external powered speakers. I've been surprised at how satisfactory this has been for me.
Of course, there's the usual sloppy mess of cables, which you can avoid by having onboard speakers, and built-ins also avoid the problem of music-room real estate (finding the right place to put them). But, since I already 'went there,' I added a subwoofer and was astounded at how it made the organ and orchestral sounds pop. You'll never get to hear the real quality of your samples with built-in speakers. The compromises are too deeply inherent.
Then again, the neighbors will never write letters to the HOA; the police will never come to your door; your dog will never howl when you whale on the tonewheel samples...

The Euro to GBP conversion rate is estimated, you would be charged the current exchange rate at the time you pay, i.e. at the time they charge your credit card. Lately, the rate has fluctuated between ~€1.11/£ to €1.15/£. Try to pay by either Nationwide Flex account or Santander Zero C.C. otherwise you will incur ~3% foreign transaction charges by your Bank. -

I've got a load of speakers at home. I have some Event Tr-8's in my spare room and an RME Fireface and a Swissonic AD24 connected to my Macbook Pro through Logic Studio.. It is a very sensible way to go for sheer quality. The only thing I like about internal speakers is that the sound is coming from under your fingers, as it were. There is a psychological experience in having an instrument in front of you and the sound is coming directly from there. It's a bit like watching a TV in the corner of a room and the sound coming out of a pair of stereo speakers from a different direction. Bit weird. Maybe it's just me that sees a flaw in that situation. The ability to simply switch on a DP and play away without having to boot up your computer and switch a load of stuff on is a real bonus too. Headphones is the likely place i'll spend a lot of my time as my playing is poor, to say the least..
