For anyone in the general area of Seattle, and with love to a tiny bit of dissonance (not a lot): http://www.octavachamberorchestra.com/A work for string orchestra (not piano related, thus) of mine, will be premiered this Sunday in Maple Park Church 17620 60th Ave W Lynnwood, WA 98037 • 425-743-2288. I will be there (I'm already in Seattle since a couple of days ago), so... come and say hello if you are around! I know it's a tiny bit spammy, but frankly this is for the love of music and not much else! Once performed, I hope to be able to post the recording (and perhaps a video as well). EDIT: Now that I think about it. The other works include the 1st concerto of Chopin, played by wonderful Jacques Depres! So there is a piano connection here! YAY!

Thank you!
It went really well!
First of all, I was already in the US for quite a few days, so the jetlag had worn off! (honestly I was afraid of that!).
The performance went VERY good. The orchestra and Johan, the conductor gave all they got. It's a very energetic work, almost brutal at some points, but still straight forward and not extremely challenging in the ear *I think*.
It worked! It really worked!
The audience were happy, I was thrilled, the orchestra and conductor were happy! YAY overall!
(Afterwards I ended up turning pages on the Chopin concerto... heh... Didn't do any screw ups though...)
Hope to be able to post the music later on this month or the coming, along, hopefully, with a video as well!

Hi Nikolas! I actually went looking to see if you did any posts about it (I don't usually look at this section of the site) and was very glad to find this. If you hadn't posted about it, I would have asked you if I could start a Composer's Lounge thread. In fact, I'm going to go ahead and do a link from Pianist Corner.) Great to hear that it went so well! Looking forward to your posting the recording, whether it would be video or just audio. By the way: I don't think you needed any "piano connection" for the concert in order to post about it -- and I don't imagine you really thought so either. I think many of us here are always interested in any musical events of our members. Even if it's just turning pages. (If they asked me to turn pages right after the premiere of something I wrote.....I don't think that would be possible. Especially since I don't write anything.)

I got here thanks to Mark c's link. I was expecting to hear music, all I find is a bunch of blah blah blah ! Typical.
Seriously, Nikolas, congratulations, I'm thrilled for you. Can't wait for the recording to get up .

haha guys! Mark thanks again! So to you landorrano! I will actually use the turning pages incident to my students: Learn how to read music well, because something like this may happen when you least expect it! hahaha! PS. I'm in SeaTac airport right now, spending my time in the free wifi (YAY!). I actually have 36 hours of travel and stay in airports starting this minute until I reach Athens! Don't you just hate it when there isn't a flight which serves YOU?
