Which do you dislike more? The commentator or the playing?

It's hard to say, isn't it? One is as misinformed as the other!

Cheers!

Of all the pieces to try to impress an audience with... why would you choose that one?

It's just such a strange choice for many different reasons.

Yeah, but before that gets passed around too much, I better 'clarify' -- I only said that I "sort of" know him. I've just met him a few times.

And you gotta admit, the way it's 'arranged' for just 1 1/2 minutes is sorta interesting....

That may or may not be true :P but I was commenting on how the audience makes this whole thing a huge monkey trick of some kind when they applaud like crazy as soon as somebody plays something fast.. I don't know anything about what this event is, so that could be why, maybe its meant to be a monkey trick?

I know! But that's exactly what I would have expected in a setting like that, especially with a player who looks like that.

Sorry to seem so superficial, but it's not me, it's human nature. smile

Anyway, look at it like this: If you don't know how the music is supposed to go, and 'better' yet, if you don't have any feel for classical music, what she's doing seems great.

I know that, because somehow it's very easy for me to imagine being stupid and not knowing anything. ha

I still haven't managed to listen to it in its entirety...

OK, I am trying right now, and my cockatiel is screaming like mad, very upset. eek ha

Edit: I had to stop because I didn't want to torture my little bird with that noise...

I'm sure she's just incredibly nervous and that most of us here would play a piece of similar difficulty just as poorly if we were playing on TV.

Yes. I hear that's basically what it was, especially with her having to cut down the piece in such a strange way -- which was apparently the main thing that threw her off. In retrospect we could say it was a mistake to play this piece if she had to cut it down like that (not to mention that it was just a mistake to play the piece anyway), but retrospect is easy.

I suppose it is possible that she was nervous, but then wouldn't she have posted a better recording somewhere to redeem herself and show she can play?
