I was talking with a good friend of mine, who is currently the music directory and organist of the St. Cecilia's Cathedral, here in omaha.
She has informed me of a new practice organ in place. So that totals to 5 organs the cathedral owns. 4 of them for sure pipe organs, and this new mystery one. I will have to go and check it out for myself to discover what it may be!
Haven't been there in almost 2 years, but am super excited to go back. The cathedral has a magnificent collection of fine instruments- here are some of the pieces they own-
ORGANS-
2003 Martin Pasi Dual temperament 3manual, 30 pedals, tracker action 65 rank pipe organ. One of 2 in the world that can change temperament.
1990s Bedient 2m, pedal smaller positif pipe organ (4-5 ranks) in the chapel. Baroque style
Bedient 1 manual and pedal at front of cathedral- Baroque style - 1 stop.
1950s or so Holtkamp Martini 3 rank organ in a practice room behind the cathedral. Self contained 2m 32 pedal ago organ. My first pipe organ experience was on this instrument!
----Mystery organ----
Harpsichords-
Grand french Double - no more info known- in a practice room
Larger sized single manual- most likely french-in same room as the french double
Italian spinet- highly ornate, painted in the romantic style- in the sitting area for the music office
Smaller single manual flemish natural wood in one of the offices
Another single manual in another office.
A mid sized single manual french in the cathedral itself.
Harps-
Lyon and Healy concert grand pedal harp
Salzedo style Lyon and Healy concert grand (Belongs to the omaha symphony/their harpist I believe)
As for pianos, the only one I know of is a fairly new yamaha 6' or so grand in a practice room
I have not been in all the practice rooms (probably not even half of them) and not all the rooms inside the cathedral. Im sure there are more instruments tucked away!
