Let us hear stories of your children with pianos.

Here is my story. Up until now I have been playing with MIDI keyboard but been dreaming of getting DP for a long time. I decided to sell my DSLR camera with a nice lens in order to pay for the Korg SP-170. Before I made an order from an online store, I wanted to test it out in person ofcourse.

Me and my older daughter of 7 went shopping for my younger daughter's birthday present and on the way to the toy store I decided to drop by the music store to try out the SP-170.

When my daughter saw all the pianos her jaw dropped from the amazement and she got so excited about all the pianos there. Ofcourse she had to pick the piano that costed 35,000 euros and started banging the keys on that smile You can only imagine how hard was it to get her out of the store to go for gift shopping.

I would play with my then 14-month old niece on my lap, and she would play some notes too, but every time I stopped to listen to her, she'd stop, take my hands off my lap and place them on the keys again! I guess she prefers collaborative piano. smile

Maybe she is well aware that humans learn by imitation...
So if you stop you basically interrupt her source of learning smile

I've never had that happen with such a young child though. Usually they are too consumed with their own banging that they don't listen to what you're doing. Lately, she's been obsessed with letters, so she likes to point to each letter of the big "PETROF" on the side of the piano and say the letter. She doens't do them in order yet though (she's almost 18 months now). laugh

PS I've already claimed her as a piano student when she's old enough...assuming I can get the parents to have a piano in the house. thumb
