i don't have too much experience with electric pianos, just this technics sx/px662 i got back in grad school when room was at a premium. now i have my own apartment with a grand in it so my wife has been egging me to get rid of it for a while. after about a year, i'm finally going to oblige.

so it's funny, now that it's gonna go, i want to find out a little bit about this piano. i thought the action is not too bad. what do you guys think?

also, i checked ebay and somebody is selling this for $550. should i expect a little more? i think i paid something like 2k for this when it's new.

thanks in advance!

I would keep it, if your wife agrees. Technics digitals are no longer sold in the US, so it's going to be difficult to sell, and you couldn't get much for it anyway--for around $550 you can get good, new digitals with full warranty and better technical specs than the Technics.

In my experience, grand pianos have a disturbing tendency to end up as hardly-played living room furniture, whether because of the expense and hassle of tuning and maintenance, the noise bothering the neighbors or the people in your house, the disappointment at it (especially a quality one like yours) not improving your playing, etc. If that happens, you can always go back to your workhorse digital, and really enjoy playing again.

well, i guess i'll have to sell it for whatever i can get. it's taking up room in my apartment and it's an eyesore.

so, my plan is: get rid of the Technics, install some kind of PianoDisk system on the grand (though i only need the silencer function, not all the other bells and whistles) and thus combining the best of both worlds into one single piano.

Dump the technics, ignore Gyro and keep the Grand.

$550 for the technics sounds about right, my old one was a notch below your model and sold for £350ish.
