It arrived yesterday and I put it together after work.

I only played for about an hour, but I'm extremely impressed so far with the action and the grand piano sound.

I was worried it would feel like a keyboard, but it feels like a piano.

Just in time for Christmas - great timing and congrats on your new piano!

Employed by Kawai Japan, however the opinions I express are my own.

I have posted a similar thread on the the comparison of the ap420 to the ap620. Out of 65 views not one reponded, which kind of makes me worry that is there something wrong with these DP or brand.

Now that you have the 620 please tell me more about it inregards to the actual touch, feel, user friendly, etc. etc.

Also, have you had a chance to try the 420? How does that compare to the 620.

I wasn't able to try any of them, I had to buy blind. I read as many reviews as I could find online. What I really looked for were reviews from people with an extensive acoustic piano background like me (I sold my Estonia 6' grand 2 years ago. Spectacular piano). I found many glowing reviews from pianists.

The 620 feels very good. The grading is just right, the bounce of the key is just right, the weight is just right. Pedaling was a big one for me. The pedaling feels great. The ivory touch is really noticeable, too. After about 10 minutes or so I could feel a "stickyness" on the keys, but in a good way. As opposed to slippery polished plastic.

Sound placement seems just right.

I tried playing Rach C#m but could only remember a few measures...but the soft pedal did a good job. I ran scales for about 20 minutes and I swear if there wasn't a psychological aspect to it (that is, knowing it's not a real piano)I might not be able to feel the difference.

I need to find which moving box my music and books are in. smile

I'm glad you're enjoying your 620. I've had one for about 3 weeks and really am happy with it. It sounds much better through my Bose QC15 headphones than through the speakers. I got some M-Audio BX5a monitors and they are also better than the onboard speakers, but not as good as the headphones. I love the action on both the keys and pedals, as well as the ivory touch key surfaces. It actually feels better than my ancient acoustic piano, and the sound through the headphones is possibly better, too, since I'm not contending with noisy loose hammers, random key clicks, etc.
Try yours through a good set of headphones. Enjoy!
