As 2010 draws to a close, it's time to start the MOYD (Master of Your Domain) list for 2011. Join in - play every day - and see what a great difference it will make to your piano playing!

Before I continue: Mark.. has dedicated a lot of his time and energy over the past few years in keeping MOYD up and running. He's ready to "retire" as it were, - not from playing, but from managing the thread. I'm sure I can speak for everyone in sending out a big Thank you Mark..!!!

So...MOYD. What is it all about?

First of all, for those who aren't "in the know" (like me, last year!) MOYD means "Master Of Your Domain". The originators of this project cribbed the name from the Seinfeld TV show. 2011 will be the 7th year of MOYD on ABF.

MOYD is a challenge/contest where you commit to playing the piano for some amount of practice every single day. If you miss a day you must come here and say so.


MOYD RULES

1. Participating in MOYD requires you to sit on the piano bench and play something at least once daily. That's it. There is no minimum amount of time required. Five minutes would count... but more is better. Simply get to the piano every day, let it become a habit, and see what good things happen to your piano skills.

2. If you are away from home, you don't have to practice. You go to the 'Excused list"

3. If you are sick, you don't have to practice. You go to the 'Excused list"


4. If you are "out" because you miss a day, you come here and tell us the sorry story on what kept you from practicing. Generally the reason for failure simply boils down to "I forgot". Once you have come clean and 'fessed up, you then go to the "Back on the Wagon list".


5. No new participants are accepted after September 30th.

NOTE: One of the common questions is..."If I am excused or back on the wagon, do I still qualify?" If you play every day (and declare those you don't) the answer is a resounding YES! you DO qualify for the MOYD 2011 status!

Simply reply to this thread declaring your enthusiastic willingness to join in and be committed to the plan!

I will check in regularly and update this first page with the information you provide. I will not reply to all the posts.

The list is of people who are signing up for 2011. It says "for people who praticed every day" which I admint is a bit misleading. I'll tweak it.

If you practiced every day for 2010 (and continue to do so for the next few days ) You will qualify for the MOYD 2010 siggy bar.

I'm in. I'll be on vacation the first few days of '11 (Dec 29, '10 - Jan 3, 11). But I'll get started on Jan 4.

I know I'll be out of town for a few days at conferences and one week in Mexico. Any suggestions on finding ways to play piano when out of town? I take my keyboard when in the RV but hotels are a different animal.

Count me in. I've been on the "excused MOYD" lists every year since I joined PW. One of these years I'll manage our vacation schedule to ensure a piano in every hotel and make the pure MOYD list.
