Hi everyone,

My name is Jasper, Dutchman living in the South of France. I've started the piano at the age of 7 (mainly classical) and had an interruption of about 30 years!! In the meantime my main passion has become the classical guitar, which I've been playing for nearly 4 years now (I love it: check out youtube if you like: vabejas), but somehow I really miss the piano as well. Playing the other day at a friends house, I've decided to get me a quality instrument (digital) which allows me to play at night without troubling anyone. It is by reading this forum (TADutchman, KawaiJames etc...) that I've been pushed towards the Kawai CA series. I've tried the piano in a shop in Marseille and I was hooked. Hopefully it will be the same experience at home, I'm very keen to try all the settings so expertly demonstrated by my fellow countryman TADutchman, thank you for that, really interesting.
The instrument should arrive before Xmas so I will keep you posted on my experience if you don't mind.

Classical guitar players have one big problem: the long right hand fingernails. It produces an annoying ticking sound on the piano, but hey, you can't have it all!!

In the meantime I'm enjoying the forum here and hope to contribute myself.
Friendly regards,
Jasper

Welcome and congratulations on your CA93, Jasper! Thanks for the heads up and I'd be delighted to read your personal experiences here and in the CA93/CA63 Custom Settings thread. smile

Thanks very much TA Dutchman, I'm impatient to try out my new Kawai friend.
You did a fine job to share with us all the improvement settings on the instrument. I'll have to train my fingers first since I've been (too long) away from the piano. It should be a fun experience. I'll post some pictures as soon as I have it. wink
Kindly,
Jasper

Congrats Jasper - I shall look forward to seeing the pics!

And of course, great work to TADutchman for his extensive work with the custom sound presets.

Cheers,
James

Thank you James; delivery will be tomorrow 22/12, a few days later than planned, but I didn't give the transport company too much stick with all that horrible weather we had lately here in Europe.
I can't wait to dive into the all the magnificent features of the CA 93, I'll keep the forum posted on my findings.
My best,
Jasper

I've done that TAD, thank you. In the meantime, my CA93 has arrived as planned and I'm literally speechless: it's amazing! I can't stop playing and am losing a lot of sleep. crazy
Thanks again for all the effort you've put in so far, I hope this layering sounds thread will continue to grow, fantastic!! thumb Love the Steinway (CA93 Var., normal touch) wow
Merry xmas to all of you!

You're welcome and Merry Xmas to you too. smile

Please do share your list of personal favourites and other experiences at the CA93/CA63 custom settings thread, that's exactly the kind of feedback that's needed. This way, I'm sure the number of advanced dual voice mode presets will also continue to grow in 2011! cool

I chose the Roland SN over the CA63/93 sound, maybe somewhat naively. Who knows?!

Rose Morris in London said they sold more CA93's that HP307's to "serious piano players". I thought i was very nice indeed so, go forth and play loads.. Congrats and Merry Christmas... It's a wicked instrument..

Thank you Rimmer and Merry Christmas to you too. I've only tried the Kawai before purchase and based my decision on what I've read on this forum. I'm sure the Roland is a great piano as well!

I think you made a good choice, but why didn't you test drive at least the major competitors? Was there no ppssibility? I also think that the CA63/CA93 is a great DP, but maybe you would have, for whatever reason, leaned more towards the 307? At least it's a better feeling knowing you made a good choice out of the possible alternatives.
Anyway, you sound like a very satisfied customer, so, congrats, and have fun enjoying your new DP! smile

Yeah, that makes you think, right? In the not so distant past it was more like the other way around: most people would not even consider a Kawai DP, buying a Yamaha (or to a lesser extend Roland) straightaway, even without extensive playing in the music store. So, something must have changed in the meantime... whistle

Hi Mucci, I'm more of a 'stomach feel buyer', besides that, the Roland 307 wasn't available for testdriving near my home, and I didn't really like the look of the Yamaha 370 or 380 with all those bells and buttons in front of you. I really appreciate the clean finish of the Kawai, it looks almost like a piano wink . The performance is way better than I could have wished for. Here's a happy customer indeed!

vabejas, the CA93 looks great in your home - congratulations! wink

If you haven't done so already, may I recommend you apply the latest software update (available from www.kawai.de).

Enjoy your new piano!

Cheers,
James

Thank you very much for your kind reply James. Indeed, the first thing I did was the transfer of the latest firmware 1.07, a smooth operation (20 sec.), perfect!
Best regards,
Jasper

Congratulations to your CA-93.

I'm a new member to this forum and just recently bought also a CA-93. A colleague of mine bought a CA-63 and is as satisfied with the piano as I am.

First thing I did, beside playing, was also to update to 1.07. wink

Best regards
