All,

I'm looking for a digital piano with a built in USB player that can play wav or mp3 files. I would like to keep the budget below 1K if possible.

I am aware of the Kawai MP6 and the Roland RD-300GX I believe it is. Any others that you are aware of?

Thanks

I'm pretty sure the Roland HP-30x ranges do, but then they're probably more expensive and I don't think they're the same style as the ones you've mentioned.

Just thought I'd throw out there one thing that has occurred to me recently:
Whether going for a piano with audio-inputs and plugging in an ipod or similar might be a suitable alternative?

Cheers.
Mike.

Mike thanks for the input. Going though line inputs might be an alternative. I'm a little hesitant because I've had past bad luck with hooking up metronomes this way and the volume being uncontrollable. that may be due to the cheap output of the metronomes.

Anyhow I like an integrated USB player. I have a Juno DI right now and absolutely love it. If it only had piano action then I would be all set. So looking for a 2nd keyboard that is a digital piano with the integrated USB player.

OB

I think the MP6 will let you record with that USB too and does mp3/wav and midi. That is definitely functionality that my CP1 should have, but doesn't.

I wouldn't mess with line inputs when you can have the flexibility of a USB playback/record device at such a reasonable price point, but if you really like a particular DP it might be worth the compromise.

As mwardm notes, the HP-30x range are able to playback WAV (although not MP3), as are the Yamaha CVP models.

The Kawai CA93/CA63 and MP10/MP6 also feature MP3/WAV recording and playback, and you can expect to see such functionality available on more Kawai DPs in the future.

Cheers,
James

I often connect my MP3 player to the line-in inputs on the back of my 20 year old(!) Yamaha CLP 560. Much better speakers than any dock!
Make sure to set the volume very very low on the MP3 player, and have it all hooked up BEFORE turning on the piano.

Littleted, can the HPi7 play MP3s from USB?
I believe the HP-307 is limited to WAV/MID files.

James
