Hello!
HAPPY NEW YEAR to all!
I have an edition of Bach's Inventions which has them evaluated in progressive order of difficulty. Is there such an edition for "The 48", OR from experience, does anyone have suggestions as to such an order?
Thanx!

Well, #1 is easiest. After that, the difficulty level jumps about 6 grades. It doesn't matter much what order you teach them in.
Seriously, this topic came up recently. Do a quick search and you'll find someone's opinion on the order.

Well, "Prelude" #1 is easy, but the Fuge isn't. As you put it, it does indeed jump a few grades.
I'll do the search and see if I find any info.
Thanx!

I used to have an edition edited by Bartok, which arranged the 48 across the two books in order of difficulty. And yes, this has come up within the last couple of years, either here or on the Pianists' Corner. I seem to remember someone posted their own list.

I searched for the thread I was thinking of - it's here. And the person who posted some sort of list was actually me.

I have Bartok's listed order somewhere, if anybody wants it - I'll see if I can find it, later. I'll then post it here, if someone else hasn't already.

In the older thread which is linked above, someone has already provided the information. But thanks to this thread I (a) discovered that my best copy of book 2 was missing, and (b) found it - so I'm glad I tried to find out.
