#1596669 - 01/13/11 11:20 AM Confused with the forum search engine?

I'm sorry if I'm asking this question in the wrong forum. I didn't see another forum for reporting potential problems or revealing my confusion.

I did a simple search this morning in the tuning and tech forum for "temperament," and several threads about the subject were not included in the results. (The long thread titled "Historical tunings," for example, where the word "temperament" is used many times, doesn't appear in the results. Nor do several threads about the Stopper temperament and the CHas temperament.) Am I doing something wrong?

At first I thought that the basic search might only look in the titles of threads, but that doesn't seem to the case.

Thanks for any insight.

I think it has more to do with spelling than the search engine.

"Temperment" isn't the right spelling but a lot of people use it, and that's why some posts don't show. I tried it and found the historical tunings thread you mentioned.

Hm...That spelling did bring up many other hits. Thanks. But I checked the CHas thread and found the word was spelled correctly there, so the search should have worked.

I wonder if there is just a limitation to the number of pages of results, so that a common term (like "temperament") can only show 12 pages of results, even though there may be many more hits. Could be a problem as the forum grows...Already a problem for common terms...?

Hmm.... I don't know.

If you don't get a satisfactory reply here, you could try writing directly to Piano World (Frank), - or report your own thread to a moderator and get their attention that way. That might work.
