So much for my conspiracy theory that it was in fact a 4 inch piano on a splotch of sand and little eeny waves washing in. I was hoping it was going to turn out to be an internet joke played on the world by the state of Florida.

A report on the news this morning stated that the piano was placed there by a teenage boy and his buddies - it didn't mention the degree of their inebriation (if any) but only related that the event (or as some would have it, stunt) was accomplished for the purpose of creating a video which would then be submiited to a college admissions office as a part of his application package (perhaps demonstrating his skills in "artistic destruction" once very important in college protests).

I'm pretty sure that I would never want to apply to any college that would remotely and serously consider such a video...it's sort of like the old joke by Groucho Marx when he said that he would never join any country club that would stoop low enough to have him as a member. smile

I would like to see the video the kid shot. Putting a piano on a sand bar is not all that "artistic". The test of his "artistic talent" would be the video.
