Any members located in San Francisco interested in meeting up for piano parties or events? I've been looking enviously at those East Coast piano party pictures and they look like so much fun! Would love to do something similar for the Bay Area...all levels welcome, but would love to establish contact with some fellow adult beginners like me smile

I am interested. I live in the city and have very limited abilities. Unfortunately due to a lack of time, I am very limited in my practice time and lessons. However, my love for the piano and its music is equal to the more advanced player. How many people have showed interest?

I'm very interested in participating in such an event! I agree, those East Coast piano parties look like so much fun. It'd be great to have a piano party in the Bay Area. smile

I'd try to come, even though I'm 200 miles away. (Weather permitting a trip over the Sierra.)

I have always looked with envy at those lucky East Coaters' photos!

I'd also like to start a piano club in Marin County/North Bay. The idea would be to meet regularly at different members' houses to share music, techniques, ideas, etc. and to attend recitals/concerts as a group. Any Marin/North Bay folks out there? Of course, players from other parts of the Bay Area would be welcome as well, if you don't mind the commute.

I would like to attend these parties however I can not host any yet. I live in a North Beach apartment with my wife and three kids and do not have room for a Piano, unless of course everyone is interested in a keyboard party. We can hear Beethoven played on wind chimes with maybe a jazz rhythm in the background. Actually, I would be happy to bring good wine to any of the parties since I can not host one yet.

Wow I'm so glad to finally get some replies! smile

Does anyone feel like they can host a party? I am sure a lot of you have much nicer places/pianos than I.

I am willing to be a host if everyone don't mind my very humble abode (and I'm not saying this just to be modest!). My rented apartment isn't very big, and I own a humble upright...but if these aren't a problem count me in as a host!

It doesn't seem anyone is interested in carrying through as the posts ended in October. For the record, I am still interested.

Thanks for reviving this thread scholarr...Anyone else who's still interested? I am afraid that not too many folks regularly check this area of the forums. Please PM me with an email address if any of you are still interested. I will gather all contacts within the next few weeks, and then arrange a gathering early next year if there is enough interest. Also please note in you PM if you can/are willing to be a host at some point. I figure this is probably the easiest way to get something going...

I live in Los Angeles so I'm a bit far - but I would be more than happy to come to a few piano parties over the course of a year. We have family in the East Bay so we're up that way at least a half-dozen times annually anyway.

AND ... if anyone is in the LA area, I'd be willing to host a small piano party at my townhouse. All I have is an upright, but it'll do.

My daughters are up in Oakland. If the gathering happens to be when I am in the area, I would love to come.

I've sent out email invites to everyone to join a Google Group where our discussions on the party details can take place.

Please PM me if anyone wants to be invited to our group OTHER than the people who are already on my list. Thanks!!

Hey folks! Reading this thread it may seem as though the idea flared up and died, where in fact we've met twice in recent months. Maybe in addition to maintaining the Google group, we should post pictures to the Piano World Forum just so we stay in people's minds.

Anyone have pictures to post? I know there were our share of flashes going off during the festivities...
