At some point I made the mistake of doing a 2-track recording on my P155. I've now been struggling for about an hour trying to get it back into a mode where I can do a single track recording without having the other track play.

The track I want to get rid of is the Left track. I can overwrite that track with a new note, but there seems to be no way to completely delete it.

Here's what the manual says (p. 26):

Quote:
Pressing the [PLAY/PAUSE] button to start recording then pressing the [STOP] button to stop recording will erase all previously recorded data on the selected part.

Well, that not only doesn't work, but makes no sense whatsoever. Pressing "play/pause" doesn't start recording, it starts playback, and subsequently pressing "stop" simply stops playback. Even if you do that sequence after you start recording it still doesn't work.

The intuitive method of enabling the left track, starting to record, and then stopping without playing any notes also doesn't work.

I know there has to be a way to get back to the point where I can just do a one-track recording without having the other track start playing as soon as I hit the first key.

Can anyone tell me in plain English how to do that??? confused

Yes, that is a strange quirk, when mine did that I just did a factory reset. You'll lose all the 3 user recordings, but it will fix it.

Perhaps someone else knows how to better attend to this.

Thanks, starbug. Glad I'm not alone. The best work-around I've found so far is just record a very soft C8 in the left track. It's not audible over the first note when you start recording and can be omitted from the playback by just playing back the right track.

It does seem a little shocking that Yamaha didn't build in a reasonable and intuitive method to go back to single track recording once you do 2-track to a particular file.

I hope someone chimes in with a "now I get it" response.

Thank you!!! I thought I was the only one with this problem. Before I take the steps you suggested, I want to know if the preset songs are still available after doing a factory reset. Thanks again.
