Make, model, year and any other information you can give can really improve the chances of a long distance / crystal ball diagnosis.

We get a lot of vague inquiries here. Think about the analogy of going on a car repair forum and asking for help about a car that doesn't run....

The single most common reason a hammer does not hit the string is because the owner did not get it fixed.

It is a Pramberger J-series. I believe it is about a 7 feet. I have not had a chance to look at it yet; they simply called me and wanted to know how soon I could stop by to investigate.

Unless you identify yourself as a technician (or a student of piano technology) on this forum, everyone will assume you are a piano owner looking for an instructions on how to fix it yourself with tools from the kitchen drawer.

Having said that, in the case of the silent note, it could be a number of things, and will become very obvious one you pull the action and take a look.
