Pat & Micheal, over the course of the past year, have overcome any & all obstacles presented to them in having a secure location for their historic collection/study center. They are now able to devote their time into what they enjoy most; the beautiful period instruments made available to the public & the spring & fall concerts.

If you happen to be in the area or live within driving distance to Ashburnham, MA, I highly recommend taking the opportunity to be in attendance for a concert. There is nothing quite as elegant as hearing a period instrument being played by one of the many artists who have appeared at concerts and who understand the tonal qualities these lovingly cared for instruments can produce.

Being in attendance at the 3rd spring concert (there are 5 each spring & fall) was quite an experience although I knew it would be having heard Yuan Sheng perform during a benefit concert at the Fredericks back in July 2009.

I waited around for awhile after the concert hoping to meet him and to somehow attempt to express the joy in having been able to be in attendance for his performance. But it was not to happen. The Fredericks offer light refreshments after each performance and a chance to meet/greet the visiting performer(s). My guess would be that Yuan Sheng had outdone himself and needed to have his space thus opting to stay in the private room secured for the visiting artist. Surely understandable if you had witnessed such an outstanding performance.
