Ok so I have been in contact with a few different churches.

I did say I was going to be practicing at a local church with a Skinner organ... well..... it turns out that with my schedule I just couldnt balance it.

So I was in contact with another church! Tuesdays for an hour I get to practice on this amazing organ!

BUILT RIGHT here in Nebraska by the amazing Bedient organ company. The cathedral here in town owns 2 of their organs and they are incredible. Very baroque sounding.

This one is in a Cavaille Coll reversed terraced console style!

________
Bedient Pipe Organ Company (1998, Opus 59).

2 manuals. 3 divisions. 28 stops. 24 registers. 58-note manuals. 32-note pedals.
Slider chests. Mechanical key action.
The organ is in a case at the front of the room.
Traditional style console. Detached, reversed console (mechanical action). Drawknobs in horizontal rows on terraced/stepped jambs. Balanced swell shoes/pedals. Adjustable combination pistons. Crescendo Pedal. Reversible full organ/tutti thumb piston. Reversible full organ/tutti toe stud. Combination action thumb pistons. Combination action toe studs. Coupler reversible thumb pistons. Coupler reversible toe studs.

Additional notes.
-- Spec slightly different at console: Swell Cornet II is two separate ranks; Trumpet 4' added to Pedal. (Database Manager. 2009-08-29)
Stoplist.

Well I finally got to play the organ for the first time today!

Literally blown away. First Bedient that I really got to get to sit and examine.

No doubt about it- a real fine built instrument in every way. The console couldn't have felt more solid.

The voices were romantic sounding. The bombarde, and trompettes were soaring, and booming, and the stopped flute voices were so nice!!

Bedient gets 2 thumbs and a foot up for building this fine instrument.

I have something to really look forward to each Tuesday afternoon!

Horrible phone demo video coming soon. Next week I will bring my really nice digital video camera.

i am excited for you Brandon.. the organ is absolutely lovely. I LOVE the reverberation. it sounds so beautiful. I would love playing it. I currently am employed on 2 Allens and would so much prefer a 'little' pipe. That is a fantastic Bombard. Great little video and demonstration... tho I'd love to hear it with all the stops WIDE open.

(please tell me if you drive down to KC for anything)

Hello Apple!

Thank you for the complements! Next time I am over there, I will try and take the good digital camera, and get some good audio. I will sure pull out all the stops! It sounds grand when you do!

I may be traveling to KC to buy an organ and see an old teacher soon. Ill let you know. smile

Great & swell little demo !

I wondered if US design principles went only in powers of two ;-)

but the video also shown a 2 2/3' Nazard. Odd harmonics may also be hidden in that Cornet II (like a Sesquialtera, with a 1 3/5' too?) and Mixture.

also this amateur would love a pedal-from-I coupler ;-) The reverse of the usual I-from-pedal!

I haven't yet looked at the video, but I'd assume that a Cornet II would be of the 2 2/3 + 1 3/5 type, as these give the characteristic cornet sound. Together with the Gedackt 8', Spitzflute 4' and Flute 2' it'd give a traditional Cornet V. The note that the Cornet is actually two separate ranks would also explain the Nazard stop you saw.

The big Walcker organ at Riga Cathedral actually has such a coupler. However, I have no idea whether it couples just the lowest note or everything within the pedal range. The coupler has a label "Noli me tangere" ("Don't touch me") which probably means it's the latter...

I have an ice cream. I cannot mail it, for it will melt.
