It seems that PW is admidst a multi-faceted #%&$ storm.

Here is something different: What are you grateful for today?

An old friend wrote a song "The Attitude of Gratitude" it really changed things for me...I'll start:

I am grateful for my life, the piano, and my family, not necessarily in that order.

I like being thankful!

I'm thankful for my school, and the new pianos we are getting, the delights of anticipation, and that I will be getting some sleep tonight.

My condolences, Deborah.

Your mother sounds like she was a wonderful person, if she taught you all that.

Thanks Jason. She was the only person in the world who fully understood my deep love of music because she shared it.

That really is something to be grateful for, Deborah. My condolences on your loss - sounds like a very special woman. (My mother would have been 91 now, too.)

91, must have been a rich life! You shouldn't feel sad, you should feel lucky! =)

I'm grateful for this amazing opportunity I have ahead of me for two years... I finally get to do what I truly want, and study with the best of the best!

My condolences to you too, gooddog.

And I don't even know where to begin to be grateful for... But I'd have to go with an extremely strong love and passion for music that literally connects every aspect of my personality so strongly to music.

And I'd like to think I'm rather sharp/intelligent, so I'm very grateful for that.

I'm grateful to be playing again.

One year ago, things didn't look good. I had an arm injury I didn't understand, I was musically depressed, I hadn't played seriously in ten years. I would think about pieces like Debussy's prelude Les Collines d'Anacapri, and it was like a fleeting daydream; each day playing something like that seemed more and more Improbable, even starting to feel Impossible.

Now... I bought a piano, I've been taking lessons for nine months, my arm issues are mostly controlled, and I'm practicing 1-2h a day. I'm sounding better than I ever did before the injury. And I have Les Collines memorized, and almost up to speed. smile

I'm grateful for my parents that support my ridiculously expensive music hobby. They bought a Digital Piano for me to play on when I started playing Piano, they paid 10 years of Piano lessons, gave me an indefinit loan to pay for my Cello when I started half a year ago and pay half my Cello lessons. Never have they complained about the costs, they are happy for me having found a passion to pursue. I'm very lucky to have it as easy as I do.

I am very sorry for your loss, Gooddog. Having the support of loved ones when you devote yourself to something that you love is just as important as excelling at that activity, and is one of the things that enable you to excel.

I'm grateful that I studied with a concert pianist more than 30 years ago who corrected all of my bad habits. Had I not studied with him I never would have learned how to approach the keyboard with the least amount of effort.

Every so often I think about this. If he were alive I'd send him a present.

My heartfelt condolences to Deborah and Apple. How difficult it must be to lose a parent. I can't imagine.

Just a few of the things I'm grateful for: my beloved family, a fantastic school, an amazing piano teacher, my health, and a small group of wonderful friends. I feel very blessed.

And I shall not forget... I'm thankful for the friends and lessons learned on Piano World! smile

Sincere condolences to Deborah and Apple.

I'm extremely grateful for my wonderful family, our health and our many blessings.

I'm grateful that at age 64 I'm practicing the piano on a daily basis - and am still capable of learning and memorizing new repertoire.

I'm grateful that my professional career in the arts is now behind me - and I am able to devote my time to community service and other interests.

I'm grateful that an amazing global musical instrument museum opened last year just 5 minutes from my house - and that I have the privilege of volunteering there every week as a docent.

I'm grateful for Piano World and the connection it provides me to fellow amateur pianists (and aspiring professional pianists) from all parts of the globe.

Apple and Deborah, I'm very sorry.

As for what I'm grateful for - many many things but pianowise:

I'm grateful that an affordable and reliable small grand just "appeared" when I needed it. I'm grateful that I was able put it in its own room. I'm grateful to have a husband and daughter who are oblivious to practice at odd hours and neighbors far enough away not to notice. I'm grateful that I've managed to avoid practice injuries. (Knock on wood, gently). I'm most grateful of all for my piano friends here who are always ready with advice and to share a laugh or a tear, some of whom I've met in person and who are very dear indeed.

Slow down and do it right.

There's so much I should be grateful of that I often even forget to be grateful frown So good that you ask

Good health, good eye sight, good hearing, good hands, ideas about how a piece should sound, that I have so much time to do what I love, enough money to pay my lessons, an excellent sounding piano, no complaining neighbours, lots of inspiring music on the web, I could go on....

My heartfelt condolences to you both, Deborah & Apple. I lost my Mom six years ago and not a day goes by that I don't think of her. She would be 90 now and I think would be very happy to know I went back to playing the piano. She loved music.

I am grateful for my family, for my friends and classmates and for my piano teacher, who is also my friend and mentor. And most of all I am grateful for my husband, who has been so supportive of me going back to school to get the degree I always wanted.
