Hi

I have written this short duet for violin and piano. It has been dissected on a couple of forums and Nikolas (who is also active here) made a few suggestions which I am acting on.

I wondered if some of you piano players could comment on the piano part. Is it effective/ pianistic/ could it be improved, etc. I'm an intermdediate player so it would be nice to hear from proper pianists (if you get what I mean).

Please also comment on anything else about the composition you wish to

the score is here

and the mp3 VST recording is here

thanks

Hey Adrian! Just wanted to welcome you on board! This IS a lovely forum and the very fact that you are offering the score as well as the mp3 is quite lovely! smile You already know my thoughts on this, so... I'll let the rest speak for this little gem!

thanks Nikolas

I have already acted on some of your suggestions - good proof reading.

Another internet friend took the piece to a "very good" pianist who played it and said the piano wrting could be improved (but offered no concrete suggestions). Interestingly the violin player liked the low register (as he likes playing in that register).

So it's a subjective game, to some extent; but I'm just interested in improving my skills like anyone else.

That's a very pretty tune. Your subtle changes from minor to major are excellent. I like it.

I too like the lower violin range and I also enjoy writing for violin.

Thanks for posting.

Thanks for taking the time to listen, Larry. I have enjoyed your pieces here and on other forums.
