The mic input feature on my CP5 is a very nice touch. I will be working with a singer tonight and thought I would first check it out (instead of having him go through my Symetrix compressor\limiter). You have complete control over over the effects and the default setting seems right on to me. A very nice feature.

I can control his volume from the keyboard and not have to always use the mixer to adjust volume and turn the mic on and off.

I never would have thought of a mic input on a keyboard. Excellent idea.

I agree...for player/singers it's a one box solution. Other makers should take note and copy Yamaha!

The FP-7F has a Mic input too, I believe.

Cheers,

Interesting. I think the FP-7F is the most versatile, rounded Roland product currently available. Better looking and more sensible shape than RD-700 too.

The only downside of the CP5's mic input is that it cuts out when you change presets, so you have to be careful when making announcements between songs!

The mic input on the FP7F is one of the main reasons I bought it, since I sing and play. Haven't tried it yet, don't have a mic, but that's next. Which mic did you use for the singer?
