As for the kawai mp10. This is sort of a mystery to me. I mean it pretty much looks like a CA93, yet it's only 2500.
The external appearance of the MP10 and CA93 are obviously completely different (one is a stage piano, the other a console), however the main specifications (keyboard action, sound technology) are essentially the same - I shall assume this is what you are referring to.
Please note, however, that while the MP10 and CA93 both utilise the 'RM3 Grand' keyboard (with let-off simulation) and 'UPHI' sound technology, there are considerable operation and function differences between the two models.
Are you mainly just paying the bit extra for the soundboard?
Well, the soundboard, speakers, amplifier, and cabinet. Furthermore, higher production, shipping, and distribution costs - it all adds up.
And kawai wise which of their piano's have that feel of their CA 63 and 93?
The CA13 (not available in the US), CA63, CA93, MP10, CP179, and CP209 all utilise the 'RM3 Grand' action - the last four also feature 'let-off' simulation. Expect to see new models announced at Frankfurt Musikmesse next month.
Other models featuring Kawai's previous generation wooden-key action may have a similar - but not the same - touch and feel.
I've tried the cn's and they felt to springy.
Were you testing the current CNx3 generation models or the older CNx2/CNx1?
The 'RH' action utilised by the current CNx3 instruments has been very well received by consumers.
Kind regards,
James
